The scandal
Following the 2026 World Cup match between France and Paraguay, which France won, Paraguayan Senator, Lawyer and Lawmaker Celeste Amarilla publicly wrote about the captain of the French team, Kylian Mbappé:
Instead of mother's milk, he sucked on coconuts, and the most educated thing he heard were chimpanzees.
Amarilla’s remarks would be disgusting were she nothing more than a private citizen. But that’s not the case – she is a Lawyer, a Lawmaker and a Senator of a Sovereign Country.
Kylian Mbappé is a French football star, born in Paris, from an Algerian mother and a Cameroonian father. Both his parents have an active participation in his football career, that he started when he was 6 years old. Now, he is considered one of the best football players in the world.
Worldwide condemnation, but...
Amarilla’s racist comments were condemned by everybody, from French and Paraguayan governments to FIFA itself, and caused rage around the world. In a somewhat contained manner, Mbappé replied:
You do not represent Paraguay, a country that has shown passion and honor throughout the competition .
Through your recklessness and brazen racism, the world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort your players made during this World Cup.
...Amarilla strikes back!
And then, what did Ms Celeste do? She wasted no time trying to hide her blatant racism under the self-victimization of “I said that in the “heat of the moment” but in fact, I am the victim of gender-violence“.
Or, in her own words:
I will not tolerate your aggression. You have [...] no right to say that I AM A DESPICABLE WOMAN, UNWORTHY OF THE OFFICE I HOLD.
This is gender-based violence, plain and simple
Retract your remarks, [...] and apologize to me. Otherwise, I may begin legal proceedings on the grounds of gender-based violence.
Why this case matters
This behavior is typical of people that systematically hurt others, while presenting themselves as “victims”.
Most of the times they start the violence by provoking the real victim to obtain a reaction they can then use to escalate the situation and say they were “attacked”.
This is a common pattern among individuals with Antisocial Personality Disorder, including sociopaths and psychopaths.
And sadly, calling others “racists”, “xenophobes”, “anti-Semites”, etc, and accusing them of “gender-violence” is becoming an intimidation tool in the hands of really aggressive and nasty people
In your lifetime you will meet many such persons and usually they aren’t as obvious as in this appalling case.
Pay attention to avoid taking sides with the agressor and turning against the real victim, by examining the facts and ignoring what “people say”. Words are just words. Some judges may find this advice helpful, too,
